![]() Last year Coughlan announced the sad news that the show's season one hair and make-up stylist Marc Pilcher had sadly passed away. The Bridgerton cast filming season two in 2022. How was the Bridgerton season two filming process? It was released over Christmas 2020 so if Season 2 were to follow its first season’s production schedule, we have a feeling we won’t be seeing a second season until Christmas 2022. The cast of the hit Netflix show filmed the series between August and November 2019, long before the words ‘Covid-19’ and ‘pandemic’ entered our vernacular. They have a lot to do, and I think it’ll always be fun to watch them do that together.’ Meanwhile, Page hinted that we might see more of his character's relationship with Daphne, commenting to : ‘They get married very young. And also, I’d like to see Daphne get involved in Anthony’s love life since he was so involved in hers.’ So who knows? I’d like to see what happens next. There’s no such thing as a happy ending, is there? I think love’s always shifting and changing. In success, I would love that.'ĭynevor also suggested another series could be on the cards, telling Harper’s Bazaar: ‘If we’re sticking to the books, it’s sort of Anthony’s turn now. ![]() When questioned if eight seasons would be his dream, he noted: 'I would love that. 'But, this being a family of eight children and there being eight books, I would love to be able to focus and really tell stories and love stories for all the Bridgerton siblings. 'I feel like the first season was primarily about Daphne and her love story with Simon,' he said. Van Dusen then told Colliderthat he'd love to see the project develop into eight seasons. So in success I would love to be able to explore love stories and romances for all the Bridgerton brothers and sisters, of course.' And while that focuses on the eldest Bridgerton daughter Daphne and her love affair with Simon, we know there are eight Bridgerton siblings there are eight Bridgerton books. 'Obviously we’re just focused on the first season right now,' he told the outlet. ![]() Ultimately, it's exciting to imagine the creative ways Bridgerton will continue to include Simon in the story while Regé-Jean Page remains off-screen.If that wasn’t enough to have us donning your pearls in anticipation for season two, creator and showrunner Chris Van Dusen then told Cosmopolitanthat he would ‘love’ to make a follow-up season. Season 2 proves that Bridgerton doesn't require Simon's on-screen presence to continue Daphne and Simon's romance or feel the ripple effects of Simon's dukedom on the family. ![]() Of course, Netflix and Shondaland could recast Simon to bring the character back on-screen, but it's not as necessary as recasting Francesca. Though Regé-Jean Page may understandably want to distance himself from the show to take on other roles, like in Netflix's The Gray Man, his name and performance will always be synonymous with Simon Basset on Bridgerton. Because of those stark differences, Francesca's recasting from Stokes to Hannah Dodd is not as monumental as recasting the Duke of Hastings, who has stronger ties to Bridgerton and the Bridgertons. Francesca's significance within the franchise should become more evident throughout that process. Those seasons and Hannah Dodd's casting give the series time to bring Francesca out of the shadows - or back from strange vacations - and start plotting her story more prominently. Furthermore, it would not change that Simon's arc in Season 1 is complete and doesn't necessarily require revisiting, which differs from Francesca's.īridgerton Season 3 will tackle Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington's romance, and Season 4 will likely follow either Eloise's or Benedict's love story. Recasting the part would not be easy, considering Page's importance in the franchise. Page was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series Emmy Award in 2021. His performance inspired a Saturday Night Live skit when Page hosted. Page's stamp on Bridgerton is permanent his role as the Duke of Hastings is iconic. While it's a letdown that Page won't appear, even as a guest star, to continue Simon's development, the character doesn't require recasting.Īlong with Phoebe Dynevor and Bridgerton's hardworking cast and crew, Regé-Jean Page significantly contributed to the show's commercial and critical success. Furthermore, Daphne's ever-present love for Simon burns throughout her appearances in Season 2, making him feel present even though he physically is not. Season 2 also flips the gender roles when Daphne appears in the first episode - without her husband - and shares that Simon is the one at home with their child. It moves away from Anthony and Simon's friendship to explore Anthony's relationship with his brother Benedict. Bridgerton uses what could be a total distraction as an opportunity.
